    Welcome to CAPAHC’s web site.

    Since 2003, CAPAHC has been managed by and for people living with hepatitis C or co-infected with HCV and HIV/AIDS.

    Our mission as an organization is to prevent the spread of the disease and to inform, help and support people living with hepatitis C, co-infected by HCV and HIV as well as their families and friends.

    Our expertise allows us to provide training and education workshops on this disease and its treatment to service providers whose clients either have HCV or are co-infected with HCV/HIV.

  • Fibroscan, an alternative to the liver biopsy!

    Fibroscan is a new, reliable and non-invasive way to quickly assess liver fibrosis and measure liver elasticity. This test is similar to an ultrasound and most hospitals now provide it. The Actuel clinic recently joined their ranks.

  • Am I number 12?

    In 2008 the World Hepatitis Alliancelaunched the global awareness raising campaign programme ‘Am I Number 12?’ to communicate the fact that one in 12 people worldwide is living with either chronic hepatitis B or C, and to encourage people to question themselves (rather than stigmatise others) and to get testedif they think they could be at risk. The campaign has been a huge success and continues to be used by hundreds of patient groups around the world.

  • Sixty-third World Health Assembly

    Viral hepatitis

    Member States accepted the report to the World Health Assembly and adopted a resolution including a World Hepatitis Day on 28 July. Viral hepatitis (i.e. hepatitis A, B, C, D and E) — a combination of diseases that are estimated to kill over 1 million people each year and an estimated 1 in 12 persons are currently infected and have to face a life with liver disease if unrecognized. This endorsement by Member States calls for WHO to develop a comprehensive approach to the prevention and control of these diseases.
